Mark Francis, founder and President of Aquaneering, Inc., has dedicated over 35 years to the development and implementation of advanced aquatic systems. With its base in San Diego, CA, Aquaneering specializes in designing, manufacturing, and installing distinct aquaculture systems for federal and state hatcheries as well as innovative housing mechanisms for aquatic creatures used in medical research. Francis’s background stems from an Agricultural Engineering degree obtained at the University of Maine. His focus area was the design of aquaculture holding and filtration systems – a passion that he's transformed into his life’s work at Aquaneering. His contributions to aquaculture extend beyond his company as he spreads his expertise through leadership roles in various bodies within the industry. He is currently aiding the Western Regional Aquaculture Center by being a part of the Industry Advisory Council. In the past, his commitment to the industry has been manifested in his roles as a board member of the National Aquaculture Association, a participant with the California Aquaculture Association, and as a two-time president of the Aquaculture Supplier Association. His career is guided by an enduring mission to mitigate the adverse effects of oceanic over-fishing via sustainable aquaculture solutions.
