Dr. Shawn Donkin is a globally renowned figure in the realm of food animal production research, with particular emphasis on nutritional biochemistry and metabolism. Currently, as the Associate Dean of Research at the College of Agricultural Sciences and the Associate Director of the Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station, Dr. Donkin drives research initiatives, fiscal management, and regulatory functions. His purview extends to USDA-NIFA federal-formula funding accountability, supervising an $83M research budget (2022), aiding faculty in sourcing external funds, and promoting agricultural and natural resources research.

His academic pedigree includes a BSc from McGill University, an MS from The Pennsylvania State University, and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before his 2021 shift to Oregon State University, Dr. Donkin devoted 26 years to Purdue University's faculty and held an influential role in their College of Agriculture leadership team for 10 years.

Dr. Donkin's prolific contributions span over 110 referred publications, above 130 abstracts, 16 research reports, and 6 book chapters. Further, he has secured over $19M in research grants from federal bodies (such as USDA, NSF, NIH) and industry collaborators.
